Modern Slavery Statement
Our commitment is to assessing and addressing the risks of modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced labour in our operations and supply chains in Nigeria.
This statement is made on behalf of Globalclique - HireAfrica and sets out the steps we have taken to assess and address the risks of modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced labour in our operations and supply chains in Nigeria.
While Nigeria does not currently have a specific Modern Slavery Act, we voluntarily adopt this statement as part of our commitment to ethical business practices, human rights, and corporate responsibility.
1. Introduction: This statement is made on behalf of Globalclique - HireAfrica and sets out the steps we have taken to assess and address the risks of modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced labour in our operations and supply chains in Nigeria.
While Nigeria does not currently have a specific Modern Slavery Act, we voluntarily adopt this statement as part of our commitment to ethical business practices, human rights, and corporate responsibility.
2. Our Commitment: Globalclique - HireAfrica is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery, human trafficking, or forced labour in any part of our business or supply chains. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of professional conduct and expect the same from everyone we work with, especially in our capacity as a workforce and technology intermediary.
3. Our Organisation & Supply Chains: Globalclique - HireAfrica is a leading Advisory and Consultancy Company specializing in Technology, Workforce/HR, and Intermediation Solutions.
We Work With:
-
Technology and software vendors
-
Recruitment, staffing, and background verification agencies
-
Independent consultants, freelancers, and subject matter experts
-
IT support and office facility management providers
We recognise that sectors such as third-party recruitment, international talent placement, and outsourced technology or facility services may carry a higher risk of exploitative labour practices, including the charging of unethical recruitment fees or poor working conditions for placed workers.
4. Our Policies: We Have Implemented the Following Internal Policies to Prevent Modern Slavery:
-
Ethical Procurement & Intermediation Policy – Guides how we select and manage suppliers, and ensures ethical practices in our workforce placement services.
-
Whistleblowing Policy – Allows employees, candidates, and suppliers to report concerns confidentially.
-
Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy – Reinforces our commitment to integrity in all advisory and intermediation dealings.
-
Human Resources Policies – Cover fair pay, right-to-work checks, non-discrimination, and ethical candidate handling.
These policies are reviewed regularly and shared with all employees, partners, and suppliers.
5. Our Due Diligence Process: We Take the Following Steps to Ensure Our Supply Chains Are Free from Modern Slavery:
-
Supplier Onboarding: Before engaging any supplier or recruitment partner, we request they confirm their commitment to ethical labour practices.
-
Ethical Recruitment Checks: For our workforce intermediation services, we verify that our partners adhere to the "Employer Pays Principle," ensuring no recruitment fees are illegally charged to candidates, which can lead to debt bondage.
-
Contractual Obligations: Our standard contracts include clauses requiring compliance with all applicable Nigerian labour laws and strict prohibitions against forced, trafficked, or child labour.
-
Whistleblowing Channel: We provide a confidential reporting channel (including via our website) for candidates, employees, or suppliers to raise concerns about unethical practices.
-
Risk Assessment: We identify higher-risk partners (e.g., cross-border recruitment agencies, outsourced labour providers) and engage them only after satisfactory compliance checks.
6. Risk Assessment: We assess that the risk of modern slavery in our direct office operations is low. However, we recognise that certain parts of our workforce and technology supply chain—particularly third-party recruitment agencies, international talent intermediaries, and outsourced labour providers—may pose higher risks due to the nature of cross-border placements, casual labour, and outsourced roles.
We Manage These Risks By:
-
Working only with reputable recruitment and technology partners who share our ethical values.
-
Including anti-slavery and ethical recruitment clauses in all relevant contracts.
-
Monitoring the welfare of placed candidates where possible and encouraging the reporting of any suspicious or exploitative practices.
7. Training & Awareness We Ensure That:
-
Our management and HR teams understand the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking, particularly in the context of labour intermediation.
-
Employees and consultants involved in procurement and recruitment are trained on ethical sourcing and fair placement practices.
-
All staff know how to report concerns via our whistleblowing policy.
8. Our Commitments Going Forward Over the Next 12 Months, Globalclique - HireAfrica Commits To:
-
Reviewing and updating our Ethical Procurement and Intermediation Policy to align with global best practices for HR and tech consultancies.
-
Conducting spot checks and audits on higher-risk recruitment and outsourcing partners.
-
Raising awareness of modern slavery and ethical recruitment risks among our staff, candidates, and corporate clients.
-
Developing and publishing a comprehensive Supplier and Partner Code of Conduct.
9. Approval: This statement has been approved by the management of Globalclique - HireAfrica and will be reviewed annually.
